About the Author Jake Ludes is an award winning educator. He was trained as an historian and taught graduate and continuing education courses in Western New York History at SUNY Fredonia. He has lectured on the subject throughout New York State. His articles and reviews have appeared in NEW YORK HISTORY and TRIANGLE MAGAZINE. He has been a teacher, principal, and school superintendent. He retired after twelve years as President/CEO of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, an international education agency. In that position he spoke on education topics in more than thirty-five countries and advised members of the United States Congress and state officials on education topics. Ludes retired in 2011 and has returned to his love of local and regional history.
